PADGEM

PADGEM
(= CD62P; P-selectin; GMP-140)
One of the selectin family, present on megakaryocytes, activated platelets and activated endothelial cells; rapidly upregulated in platelets and endothelial cells and only transiently expressed. Mediates rolling of neutrophils, platelets and some T-cell subsets along luminal surface of vessels. Although knock-out is defective in cellular infiltration into inflammatory sites it is necessary to inhibit both P-selectin and E-selectin to see total blockade.
